The time: late evening on April 14, 1912. The location: somewhere in the cold, dark waters of the North Atlantic. As the largest ocean-going ship in the world and the pride of the White Star Line shipping company, the TITANIC was on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. It was 269 meters long and had a displacement of 66,000 tons when loaded.
